If you're puzzled by the variety of Lemax adapters and expansion cords, you're not the only one. We're here to help clarify this topic for you. Additionally, we aim to provide you with ideas on how to illuminate and power your Lemax village.
Let's start with the power adapter end. L-Shape vs. U-Shape, what's the difference besides the shape?
L-Shape: The L-Shape is a 4.5v adapter with a 550mA output. It is the classic Lemax adapter, serving as the primary power source for many years. Lemax collectors recognize this adapter well. The end that connects to your unit is L-shaped. This adapter powers village pieces featuring animation and soundtracks, such as rotating or spinning buildings, doors that open, and characters that move in various directions. Generally, if it moves and plays music, it requires the L-Shape adapter.
U-Shape: The U-Shape adapter operates at 4.5v with 100mA. It is designed for village houses that use LED lighting without any animation or sound, as it has a much lower mA. The power adapter's end plug is U-Shaped and is compatible only with village pieces featuring a 2-hole pattern on the back.
Lemax provided retailers with a useful information sheet detailing the adapters and expansion cords along with their product SKU numbers. We have all these various configurations in stock.
Lighting multiple village buildings with 1 power source? Let's break this down a bit to help you decide which configuration will work best for your village.
Connecting multiple animated village pieces: Connect 3 animated Lemax pieces with the 3-Output 4.5v 1000mA adapter in white and black (skus 94563 & 94566). This adapter has one 1000mA rectangular brick end that goes into the wall with 3 L-Shaped plug-ends to go into the back of your village pieces. Be cautious when plugging this power adapter into a power/surge strip or a smart plug rather than directly in the wall plug. It is our cautionary advise to NOT use the power strip on/off switch to turn on and off your village pieces that have animation. We rather strongly advise using the provided power radial switch on each unit to turn pieces on and off. Using the on/off switch or the on/off command on a smart plug can blow out your circuit board on your village pieces. Many say it's not been an issue for them, whereas others have lost valuable pieces from this method of powering on/off their village. Use caution.
Connecting Multiple LED/Light-Up Pieces: Utilize the new expansion 3-output cable with U-shaped plug ends, available in white and black (Sku: 44340 & 44341), to connect three LED village houses using one single power adapter (not included). This requires a basic 4.5v 550mA L-shaped classic power adapter (Sku: 74254 & 44402) to make use of this expansion cable set. It is not included. See the images below.

Now expand your imagination and your village. Connect up to nine LED village houses with 1 X Sku: 94563 or 94566 (L-Shaped classic 3-output Adapter) and 3 X Sku: 44340 or 44341 (3 Output - U-Shaped Expansion Cables).
